It creates separation between "you" and "them."⁠

I'm totally on board with seeking out and learning from people with more knowledge and experience than you.⁠

I'm not on board with the idea that being the smartest person in the room means there's nothing of value in that room for you.⁠

It's this idea that we're somehow better than the other people in the room.⁠ Or that people should be "useful" to us in this particular way.

It's not always about, "What's in it for me? What can I GET from this?"⁠

What if you're the person that someone else can learn from? ⁠

What if you shared with the people in the room, rather than discarding them for a "better" room?⁠

What if they have more to offer than you think?⁠

▶️ How are you investing in yourself this week?

You're limiting yourself if you believe the only way to invest in yourself is financially.

You don't have to invest in a 5 or 6 figure coach or program to prove you're serious and committed to your own growth.

You don't have to buy a course, program, or guide (excluding professionally required certifications if that's what you want).

Can they help? Sure.

But they only help you if you're ready and willing.

You CAN grow on your own.

YOU are capable.

YOU are writing your own story.

There's a difference between "I can't do it on my own" and "I prefer to learn and grow in this particular way."

There's a difference between investing financially in something because you feel inadequate or incapable, and investing because you have clear goals and intentions and know the program/coach will assist you in a way that feels good for you.

I know many incredible coaches. I've invested in myself financially a ton. I'm a cerified NLP practitioner. I'm currently working with a mentor 1:1.

I'm not saying don't invest in yourself financially.

I AM saying it's not the only way to experience shifts.

Some spaces in the coaching industry can feel elitist, and judgemental of others who don't pay large sums for programs/coaching.

HOW you choose to invest in yourself - financially or otherwise - is up to you.

And whatever you choose doesn't really matter.

The act of consciously choosing where and how to invest in ourselves (i.e. how we spend our time, energy, and money) is the most empowering thing we can do for ourselves.

Agree or disagree?

In our production focused society, nothing just means "not producing externally observable results."

And that's "externally observable" to someone other than you.

I used to feel so much anxiety around anything that would be graded or reviewed by a person of authority.

I worked and completed tasks in a circle of procrastination, self-criticism, perfectionism, and feeling like it was never enough.

I assumed any critiques given were deliberately nicely worded out of pity, and any praise given was...also out of pity.

And yet, I continually chased praise.

I attached my worth to the approval I received from authority figures.

Which meant in order to feel worthy, I needed to constantly be doing things FOR others.

Doing "nothing" meant there was no path to praise.

No mechanism for feeling worthy.

Now, after over a year of life sans the 9-5, I feel very strongly that "doing nothing" is SO important. For every single human.

Time where we don't feel busy, and don't feel guilty about not doing something else, and just enjoy the moment.

Time in which we feel worthy and deserving as we are.

That's SOMEthing.
