You can't logic your way through manifestation.

We try to control it all by focusing on steps, and plans, and forcing a big vision into existence.

And anyway, even if you had an amazing plan, you can't force everything around you to follow it.

I've always thought about life ("manifestation" or "goals" or whatever), as a series of choosing THE NEXT BEST MOVE.

That's it. That's all there is. That's all you can ever influence.

Imagine you're in this room of doors. And everything in your life (circumstances, people, things, activities, etc) surrounds you. And each thing is a door.

Each door leads to another room of doors. New circumstances, people, places, activities, things.

You can't know what other doors exist beyond your immediate room. You can't predict, or try to plan ahead.

All you can do is choose the door that feels best. That excites you and sparks your interest (in reality you're not limited to just one door, but hey...).

So your life unfolds through a series of next best moves based on what feels best to you in the present moment.

You wouldn't choose a door you absolutely don't want to walk through because you think there are way better doors in that room.

In life, we think that's how it works though. We think we HAVE to do things we don't like in order to earn or deserve what we really want.

We think we have to deny ourselves the opportunity of choosing the doors that seem the most fun/exciting/joyful.

That's false. Your Soul leads you forward through desire and joy. Your Soul puts these things in your life so that you can choose them. And move forward to the next set of choices/experiences/circumstances.

You don't need a big plan.

You just need to make the next best move for you.

Just a little Thursday thought...⁠

Think of how much pressure we put on the things we do, like, enjoy, and are curious about.⁠
⁠
"Is this my passion? Is this my purpose??"⁠
⁠
And if we decide the things we're spending time on are NOT our passion or purpose, does that make them meaningless or a waste of time?⁠
⁠
Especially in the business world, it can start to seem like those who have a clear passion/purpose are better or more evolved than the rest of us.⁠
⁠
Here's the truth: Clarity is a lie we tell ourselves to feel like we have more answers than we really do.⁠
⁠
Feeling like we "know" our purpose is a comfort in the sea of unknown we're treading in.⁠
⁠
AND - wanting to believe that something is our purpose can lead us to throw ourselves into it completely, convinced that all the do, do, doing and mad busy-ness are more than what they often really are (i.e. usually distraction or avoidance).⁠

Now, I'm NOT saying passion and purpose don't exist. I AM saying that our ideas of what these mean and their role in our lives have become skewed.

How much weight are you giving to IDEAS of passion and purpose in your life? And, more importantly, is it helping you? Does it feel expansive for you, or restrictive?

The face I make thinking about all the plans I was

The face I make thinking about all the plans I was making in January 2020 (5 years ago 😆).

I feel like a completely different person.

I went from looking externally for all the answers, to turning completely inward.

I went from wanting to build multi-7-figure business, to wanting to focus on being more intuitive and developing my psychic abilities.

I went from 8+ hour shooting days and hours more of editing, to 2-4 hours of focused work a day.

I've gone from thinking "doing" was the most important thing, to knowing it's more about "being".

I used to feel so much stress from my endless (self-imposed) to-do list, and now I feel so at-ease and content with my super short list of priorities.

I've gone from pushing down the parts of me I thought were weak or shameful, to practicing self-acceptance and self-celebration (and it's a constant practice).

I've learned to experience the here and now entirely differently - to stop trying to chase experiences outside of myself, and be more conscious and aware in what we humans experience as "now".

And...I've gone from one kitty...to two!

FEELING SCARED IS NOT A NECESSARY INDICATOR. And

FEELING SCARED IS NOT A NECESSARY INDICATOR.

And NOT feeling fear doesn't mean your dreams are stupid or pointless.

It's less about feeling scared when we think of our dreams and more about feeling CONNECTED to them.

AND ALSO, can we stop judging each other on the size of our dreams?

IT DOESN'T MATTER.

The only thing that matters is if YOU want them and if YOU feel good and inspired going after them.

Yes, sometimes we have our own self-limiting beliefs that keep us comfortable and/or stagnant, BUT that doesn't mean we have to thrust ourselves into feeling scared about where we're headed for where we're headed to be worthwhile.

It doesn't mean we need to change our dreams or "think bigger" just because we don't feel scared when we think of them.

"If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough..." really means, "If you don't feel inadequate when thinking of your dreams, you're doing it wrong."

Knowing you need to grow into your dreams (as a person, dream size unimportant), doesn't mean you must feel scared/inadequate about that journey.

You can feel totally confident in your ability to do that while accepting that the you that accomplishes those dreams is maybe different from the you in this very moment (and probably is b/c we're always evolving).

Try it out:

"My dreams are so big they scare me."

VS

"I feel so connected to and inspired by my dreams, and I'm confident in my ability to grow into them."

One more thing! It's so easy in this achievement-centric society to conflate "big dreams" with "clarity of purpose."

I love how @theroyalshaman explains this: Your purpose isn't something you do, it's who you're being.

And your BEING can be expressed in any environment, task, goal, dream, etc.

Service-based business has people-pleasing built-in.⁠

It wasn't the freedom I wanted or needed, it was an extension of the anxiety-filled people-pleasing I was already so used to.⁠
⁠
I didn't "exceed expectations" in school/work because they were MY expectations and I wanted to - I did it because I was afraid of disappointing people. I wanted approval. I wanted praise.⁠
⁠
I *needed* praise to feel like a worthy human.⁠
⁠
So when I left my office job and dove into business, NOTHING CHANGED.⁠
⁠
And the service-based, photo-delivery nature of my business enabled that, and probably heightened it.⁠
⁠
But the introspection of 2020 helped me realize where I was serving/giving out of a need for approval, and where it actually felt good to give.⁠
⁠
And when I really stopped wanting and needing approval from others, I realized serving others through my business was NOT how I wanted to give.

At first, admitting that felt sooo selfish!

Shouldn't I want to give, give, give??

Aren't I supposed to?

But the truth is, figuring when and how I actually WANT and ENJOY giving has been a huge lesson for me over the past year.

Versus just giving out of need for praise and/or feeling of obligation and not realizing what's really happening.

In conclusion, awareness is key for eeeeverything.
